Funcup & Chevron Race Car Hire

The FunCup racing series was launched in the UK in 2002, as a way of providing a cost effective way to enter motor racing that is fun and designed for the novice or enthusiast to compete on secure track conditions around the UK. Tracktorque UK has been running 3 cars in the Funcup series for the last few years The series is based on teams and each team has a number of drivers who compete in the funcup series. After ten successful years in the UK the Funcup series has been granted championship status for 2011, by the MSA and will look to increase the series to cope with a bigger demand for cost effective motorsport.
The Funcup concept was originally conceived in Belgium based on the success of endurance karting. As well as a Championship in the UK and Belgium, it now runs in France, Italy, Germany and Spain. From small beginnings, it has taken off to massive success with more than 160 cars on the grid for the Spa 25 hour race and regular grids, topping 30 cars in the UK. Tracktorque, based near York are one of the key UK based teams who finished in the top 3 in the championship in 2011. Greater things are to come in 2012 with a direct approach to building tuning and racing funcup cars at Tracktorques HQ at Tockwith near York. 
The Fun cup cars are race designed as single-seaters, with super-strong space frame chassis. They are powered by an 1.8 VW/Audi  petrol engine producing around, 130 bhp with a 5 speed gearbox, race brakes and fully adjustable suspension, or a VW 1.9 TDI, producing 160 bhp The races are all endurance, between 4 and 7 hours in the UK, complete with pit stops. Teams vary from 2 - 6 drivers in the UK and thanks to carefully formulated rules, however many in a team, your chance of success is exactly the same. Races consist of a petrol and TDI class, with the top three teams in each class winning a trophy.
So, with the car engines and gearboxes sealed and regulations strictly controlled, the racing is super close and the running costs remarkably low for motorsport.
Fun Cup receives widespread promotion, across motorsport magazines through to daily newspapers, general interest magazines and TV coverage. The Championship is filmed at each UK event and Spa 25 hours, for Sky Sports "Raceworld" programme and Motors TV.
